Vintage 1980s Polish Solidarity “Solidarność” Protest Pin Badge

Founded in 1980 at the Gdańsk Shipyard, Solidarity became the first independent non-communisttrade union in a Soviet-bloc country and played a major role in the peaceful resistance movement that helped end communist rule in Poland and eventually through the wider Soviet Union. These Polish protest pins were worn by citizens and union supporters as symbols of peaceful protest, political reform, and resistance against martial law.
The iconic red, hand-lettered "Solidarność" (Solidarity) logo has a stylized Polish flag growing out of the letter "ń". To the left is the crowned Polish White Eagle coat of arms.
