Up for sale is a highly collectible, authentic vintage full-size Zippo lighter featuring a distinct factory date code error from 1979. It is customized with a vibrant enamel logo emblem for the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) on the front face. The back features a beautifully crisp commemorative engraving honoring the historical NALC union leadership, explicitly bearing the signatures of legendary President Vincent R. Sombrotto (who served from 1979–2002) and Secretary-Treasurer Gustave J. Johnson. The 1979 Error Stamp:Instead of the standard corrected 1979 marking (// ZIPPO /), the bottom stamp features the legendary early-1979 factory error layout: 1 forward slash on the left and 2 forward slashes on the right (/ ZIPPO //). This occurs because the factory accidentally removed the slash mark from the wrong side when scaling down from 1978 production. This flaw makes it an incredibly sought-after piece for serious Zippo and tobacciana error-stamp collectors.Hinge:Excellent, tight condition with no excessive wobble. Snaps shut cleanly.* **Function:** Tested and sparks beautifully. Will require standard lighter fluid and a fresh flint to fully operate (shipped empty per postal regulations).* **Cosmetics:** Shows normal vintage wear, light pocket scuffs, and minor handling marks consistent with age, which adds to its authentic vintage character. Enamel on the front emblem is intact. The Items are described as accurately as possible. Please examine the attached pictures carefully, as they are part of the description and condition. As a reminder, the delivery dates are estimated, not guaranteed.
