America on Parade debuted at Disneyland in June 1975 as part of the nationwide celebration of America’s 200th birthday. Presented during Disneyland’s own 20th-anniversary year, the elaborate production combined enormous floats, live performers, Disney characters, historical tableaux, and specially coordinated music into one of the most ambitious parades the park had staged.
The first page features an attractive red-and-blue America on Parade emblem with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy gathered beneath a Revolutionary-era flag. It is printed on official Disneyland Publicity Department stationery and carries the parade’s original operating period: June 1975 to September 1976.
This is an original period Disneyland document, not a modern reproduction or digital print.
Inside This Document
The three stapled pages record the parade in performance order, using separate columns for:
- Parade unit or float
- Characters and performers assigned to each unit
- Musical accompaniment
The lineup begins with the patriotic Spirit of ’76 unit featuring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. It continues through scenes inspired by American history, westward expansion, transportation, sports, food, inventions, motion pictures, television, and popular entertainment.
Among the many Disney characters documented are Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, the Aristocats, the Three Little Pigs and Big Bad Wolf, Dumbo, Bongo, and others. Historical and cultural figures include Christopher Columbus, Pilgrims, pioneers, Betsy Ross, Benjamin Franklin, suffragettes, railroad workers, and an assortment of turn-of-the-century townspeople.
The document concludes with the parade’s musical finale and its great American symbols, including the Statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam.
Rather than simply showing what the audience saw, this document reveals how Disneyland organized the complete production—unit by unit, performer by performer, and song by song.

Condition
Complete three-page document in very good vintage condition. The three standard 8½-by-11-inch sheets remain joined by their original staple in the upper-left corner.
The paper exhibits slight age-related discoloration, most noticeably near portions of the edges. There are also a few extremely shallow areas of paper loss along the page edges, extending less than approximately 1/16 inch into the sheets. These do not approach or affect any words, illustrations, or other printed content.

A Moment in Disney History
Unlike a souvenir brochure intended for park guests, this Disneyland Publicity Department document records the working anatomy of the parade. It identifies the sequence of its historical scenes, the characters and performers populating them, and the music selected to accompany each portion of the procession.
America on Parade was created for the United States Bicentennial and debuted at Walt Disney World on June 6, 1975, followed by Disneyland on June 12. Its scale was extraordinary: approximately 50 parade units and 150 character performers brought an idealized pageant of American history to both parks.
This surviving lineup offers a remarkably detailed backstage record of that landmark production.
