Vintage 1960s-70s Yellow BERNARD INDUSTRIES Lawn CHAIR - SUNBURST Ray Pattern !
Here is a really COOL looking yellow plastic & aluminum 1960s or 70s mid century folding lawn lounge chair.
It was made by Bernard Industries who was a Chicago-based plastics manufacturing company founded by Bernard Yellin in the 1960s. Yellin originally co-founded Beco Products, which was acquired by MSL Industries in 1965. Shortly after the Beco name was discontinued in 1968, Yellin established Bernard Industries at the former Beco facility to continue specializing in plastics and molded goods.
This chair is marked BERNARD INDUSTRIES CO. c PAT. PEND.on the bottom of the rayed seat.
Has an unusual cutout rayed sunburst like pattern seat and the back has a center circle cutout with a scrolling pattern, very atomic like.
I have only seen a very few of these type pattern chairs over the years, so possibly a kind of scarce design.
In very good condition, no damage that I see, some slight scuffs and scratches from typical use, works well, very smooth action, yellow color is strong with no real fading, some light brownish discoloration on the yellow vinyl strip across the lower front, one missing and one deteriorated end cap on tubular frame where it would sit on the ground, a nice chair from the 60s and would be a statement piece at your next outdoor event.
See the last photo of this chair shown with a set of Telescope brand chairs that are being sold together in another separate listing - this sale is for the yellow chair ONLY !!!
Measures about 33 inches in height when un-folded, 25 inches across, and about 23 inches in depth. Here are some more detailed measurements:1. ground up to the top of back - 33 inches2. seat height - 17 inches3. seat width - 19 inches across4. seat depth - 17 inches
Comes fully assembled, folds closed for easy storage.
The bright sunny yellow is sure to brighten up any space and create a happy mood.
