A RARE find.Vintage 3D lenticular risqué postcards produced by the Wonder Co. (often in partnership with Toppan Printing) in Tokyo, Japan, are highly sought-after mid-century pop culture collectibles. Typically manufactured during the 1960s and 1970s, these cards use a plastic lenticular lens overlay to create a shifting "motion" or deep 3D effect when tilted. While Wonder Co. is well-known for printing serene nature scenes, wild animals, and florals, their novelty division produced several styles of risqué and optical-illusion merchandise:
- The "Risqué Cartoon" Series: Typically stylized 1970s comic illustrations featuring adult humor, double entendres, or revealing clothing shifts when the card is tilted.
- Lenticular Hologram Photo Cards: These pieces feature actual photography—such as a Japanese model sitting behind a decorative frame who appears to change poses, smile, or alter her clothing as you alter your viewing angle.
- Co-Branded Toppan Prints: Many of these cards carry stamps for both Toppan and Wonder Co. Ltd. on the split back, which serves as a mark of high-quality vintage Japanese printing craftsmanship from that era.
