Vintage 1951 Phi Alpha Fraternity paddle from the Omicron Chapter at the University of New Hampshire.The front features the colorful Phi Alpha fraternity crest, large applied Greek letters Φ Α, and the name/date marking “SAM ’51.” The reverse is marked “OMICRON CHAPTER” and displays the University of New Hampshire seal, along with additional fraternity/member lettering.The handle is stamped “L.G. BALFOUR / ATTLEBORO, MASS.” L.G. Balfour was a major American maker of fraternity and collegiate jewelry, insignia, and related items.Phi Alpha was a national fraternity that later ceased operating under its original name, making surviving chapter memorabilia of particular interest to collectors of vintage fraternity, university, and Greek-letter material.A very attractive piece of mid-century collegiate history with strong identification to both the fraternity and university
