Beautiful vintage 1950s–1960s Los Castillo Taxco sterling silver pendant featuring colorful natural abalone shell mosaic inlay with an applied sterling silver “L” initial. The abalone has striking natural iridescent shades of blue, green, pink and purple.
The reverse is clearly marked LOS CASTILLO / TAXCO / STERLING / MADE IN MEXICO, along with the Eagle 15 assay mark associated with Los Castillo and production/design number 133. Los Castillo is an important name in Mexican mid-century silver and is particularly known for its distinctive mosaic and inlay work.
Measures approximately 1” diameter and weighs 7.77 grams.
Very attractive vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear and patina. The sterling has not been polished and the original patina has been retained. Please review the photographs closely for condition and markings.
