A striking vintage NuGrape advertising bottle from Danville, Virginia, featuring the distinctive patented NuGrape bottle form and an exceptionally appealing yellow applied-color label. This 6-ounce bottle was distributed by the Seven-Up Bottling Co. of Danville, Virginia. The front retains a strong yellow and dark-lettered NuGrape Soda ACL reading “Imitation Grape Flavor,” while the reverse retains portions of the original orange/yellow lettering identifying NuGrape and the Danville bottler. The reverse decoration shows considerable age-related loss, which is clearly documented in the photographs. The bottle itself has the recognizable NuGrape specialty form with textured glass on the neck and lower body, three raised neck rings, a constricted waist and crown finish. The heel is embossed “DESIGN PAT’D D-130075.”What separates this example from the more commonly encountered NuGrape bottles is the identifiable Danville, Virginia Seven-Up Bottling Co. attribution, combined with the strong surviving yellow front ACL and intact patented D-130075 specialty bottle form. The aqua-green glass presents beautifully in natural light, and the surviving front ACL gives the bottle excellent visual presence. The combination of NuGrape advertising, the patented specialty bottle design, and identifiable Danville, Virginia / Seven-Up Bottling Co. attribution makes this an excellent piece for a soda advertising, Virginia bottling, ACL bottle or country-store collection.Condition: Vintage used condition with expected surface wear, staining and age-related wear to the applied-color decoration. The front ACL remains particularly attractive. The reverse ACL has substantial fading and loss. No chips or cracks. Please review all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description.Approximate dimensions: 8 inches tall × 2¼ inches diameterCapacity: 6 fluid ouncesColor: Aqua / green glassLabel: Yellow applied-color label / ACLLocation: Danville, VirginiaBottler: Seven-Up Bottling Co.Patent marking: DESIGN PAT’D D-130075Era: 1940sA strong piece of Southern soda-bottling history with excellent shelf presence and an unusually attractive surviving front graphic. Keywords: NuGrape bottle, Nu Grape Soda, Danville Virginia bottle, Seven-Up Bottling Company, 7-Up bottler, vintage soda bottle, ACL bottle, applied color label, antique advertising bottle, aqua glass bottle, 1940s soda advertising, D-130075, Virginia soda bottle.
