Vintage 1940s box of 12 Birthday Candles by Betty Bolling, the candle brand of Candle Craft, Inc., Newark, New Jersey. The box advertises the candles as Known for Their Purity and Fine Quality.
The box has a charming period design: two bellhops carrying a birthday cake behind a blue stage curtain, with a die-cut window showing the green candles inside, and a punched store-display hanger hole at top. The box end reads One Dozen.
Condition: the twelve green candles appear full-length and unused. The box shows honest age wear: corner and edge wear, flaking along the bottom edge, foxing and soiling, and the end flap is worn where the box was opened. Colors remain bright on the display side. See all photos.
Unused vintage Betty Bolling candles are popular with collectors of 1940s and 1950s Christmas and birthday decor, including Noel candle holders and Swedish angel chimes that use this size candle.
