Vintage 1940s-1950s Traditional Japanese Indigo-Dyed Hanten Jacket Kimono. Honestly, I had a long deep moment of soul searching about whether or not to include this in our current sleep clothes and loungewear sale. After all, this stunning work of art is a coat-- to group it with this sale is akin to sticking a leather motorcycle jacket in with a rack of nighties. But I do strongly believe the wearer determines the true meaning of a clothing item--if I say my vintage slip in a summer dress, then that's what it is. Plus I like putting stunning things on sale immediately, because it's what I as a vintage shopper would want. And this is stunning in every capacity, from the artistry shown in the print, to the graceful cut, to the extreme comfort of it; this is a light, unlined cotton perfect for summer evenings. It's another one I struggled to part with. But the fact is, for me it's too gorgeous, too rare, too darn special to actually wear--what if I spilled coffee on it?-- and so I compelled myself to let it go. But some bolder person will find great joy wearing it--it's a perfect, much cooler replacement for a jean jacket--or hanging it on a wall as a true work of art.
