Listing Description:
Original vintage black-and-white photograph showing what appears to be the Richard Neutra-designed Landfair Apartments, also known as The Glass House and later Robison Hall, near UCLA in Westwood, Los Angeles.
The back of the photograph is marked “UCLA.” The image shows the modernist apartment building with period automobiles parked along the street, likely dating the photograph to the late 1930s or 1940s.
The Landfair Apartments were built in 1937 and designed by Richard Neutra with Peter Pfisterer. Neutra.org identifies the project as the Landfair Apartments / UCLA Co-op Student Housing at Landfair Avenue and Ophir Drive in Westwood. The building is also documented as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument and was historically associated with UCLA student cooperative housing.
A strong architectural image for collectors of Richard Neutra, UCLA history, Los Angeles modernism, International Style architecture, Westwood, California modernist design, and vintage automobile street scenes.
