Up for sale is an incredibly rare piece of 1930s Depression-era petroliana history: an authentic, original 3 lb. net capacity cloth advertising bag for Texaco Evaporated Salt. This unique product was manufactured during a brief historical window by the Texaco Salt Products Company based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
This specific variant is highly prized by historians because it features the iconic black and red "NRA Code" eagle logo printed directly above the text, dating this exact piece to the National Recovery Administration era between 1933 and 1935. The front also showcases a green stamped registration mark in the upper right corner featuring a silhouette of a sitting dog alongside the number "1234" and the text "H. B. Co."
The bag is constructed from an off-white tightly woven cotton canvas and features the classic black printed Texaco text, the red and green star logo centerpiece, and a bottom left identification code reading "B-B 2". It measures approximately 11.5 inches in height and 5.25 inches in width.
Condition Notes
The bag is in excellent, clean vintage condition for a textile item nearly a century old. The printed graphics, text, and colors of the iconic Texaco star remain beautifully dark, sharp, and highly legible with very little fading. The cotton cloth is structurally sound with tight side seams and no large rips or holes.
