Up for sale is a fantastic piece of vintage Americana barware—the classic "Old Snifter" figural corkscrew and bottle opener. Modeled as a political caricature of a Prohibition agent (inspired by the famous "Mr. Dry" cartoon character), this historical novelty piece dates right back to the 1930s Prohibition era.
**Item Details & Features:**
- **Inscriptions:** The base is clearly stamped "OLD SNIFTER" on the front bevel. There are no additional manufacturer marks or patent stamps on the underside.
- **Dual Functionality:** The character's nose and collar seamlessly serve as a functional cap bottle opener. The hidden metal corkscrew smoothly swings out from the back of his trench coat tails.
- **Material:** Cast metal with a polished chrome/nickel-plated finish.
- **Measurements:** Stands approximately 8 inches tall.
**Condition Report:**
This piece is in very good vintage condition for its age. The hidden corkscrew mechanism works well, swinging out easily with a straight, strong worm/screw. The metal finish shows minor, age-appropriate pitting, scuffs, and character wear, which perfectly adds to its authentic antique aesthetic. The base is sturdy and stands beautifully on display.
Please review all the provided high-resolution photos carefully as they form part of the condition description. A great addition to any vintage barware collection, political novelty collection, or conversation piece for your home bar!
