Up for sale is an authentic, original vintage brass skeleton room key and translucent amber plastic fob from the historic Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia (ZIP 23451).HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE & FLOOR PROVENANCE:The Historic Cavalier Hotel & Beach Club opened its doors in 1927, quickly becoming a premier luxury coastal destination that hosted numerous U.S. Presidents and iconic literary figures like F. Scott Fitzgerald.*The Coors Mystery (June 1929): Just two years after the hotel opened, prominent beer brewing magnate Adolph Coors Sr. checked into the 6th floor to recuperate from an illness. On the morning of June 5, 1929, he mysteriously plunged to his death from his 6th-floor window. Whether it was an accident, suicide brought on by the frustrations of Prohibition, or something more sinister remains a point of heavy debate—especially given persistent rumors that his room's windows were found locked from the inside. The Haunted 6th Floor: Following the tragedy, the Cavalier's 6th floor earned a reputation as the most haunted location on the property. Over the decades, guests and staff have reported eerie phenomena, including disembodied whispers, sudden cold spots, the phantom sound of a body striking the brick courtyard below, and even brief sightings of Coors himself walking the hallways.Pre-Restoration Artifact: In 2018, the property completed a massive, multi-million dollar architectural restoration. As part of this sweeping modernization, the hotel merged its original 195 rooms down into just 85 expanded luxury suites.A Piece of Extinct History: Because the original 1920s room footprint was completely altered during the 2018 redesign, the original Room 603 no longer exists. This key and fob serve as a rare, tangible piece of the hotel's vanished 6th-floor layout, making it a finite and highly collectible artifact of Virginia coastal history.Good vintage condition with a wonderful aged patina on the brass key. The plastic fob remains fully intact with highly legible text, showing normal surface wear and minor scuffs from actual historic hotel use. Please review the photos carefully to verify the exact condition of the item.Perfect addition to any historical Virginia, law enforcement destination, or premium vintage hotel/motel memorabilia collection!SHIPPING & HANDLING:Shipped securely with tracking via USPS Ground Advantage.
