Description: Large Mettlach, Villeroy & Boch, Lidded Tureen with Underplate Germany, early 20th century, substantial stoneware covered tureen with matching underplate in the Renaissance style, castle Mettlach mark, number 3149. Very RARE no other like this one found.
The tureen body is modeled in cameo relief with mythology muses, cherubs, birds, grapes and musical instruments over blue ground, olive green trim and trophy handles. The plate and lid are decorated with stripes. Overall height approximately 16\", plate diameter 15 1/2\"
Condition: Overall, very good condition on the outside minor use marks, the inside is stained as pictured, the finial is slightly tilted with closer look, the bowl has little play will not perfect seat flat on plate.
