DESCRIPTION: Here is a vintage, around 1900 or very possibly earlier, cast iron padlock. ...for a shipping crate I\'m told, I don\'t know, but it makes sense to me. I could not find another example. I see that it is similar / yet certainly different, to a crab lock style. It has no markings, names or numbers. On top looks like a bear head. What\'s the meaning of that? The lower \'hole\' with notch would slip over a screw or stud on the main part of the crate and when locked in place the lock would be secured in place and not \'flop\' around. *** Certainly a Rare Mechanical Piece ***
MEASUREMENTS: about 8\" x 2 1/3\", weighs 11.5 oz.
CONDITION: Very good condition as seen. no cracks or breaks and spring is fine, though I do not have a key to try it. ...nice surely original black paint. I unscrewed the back and show the inside.
GUARANTEE: All of our merchandise is guaranteed to be genuine, old and vintage as described!
TERMS: Most items are mailed out in 1-3 days of receiving payment. We accept appropriate payments.
response: We strive to achieve and always appreciate a full 5-STAR response rating from buyers. Feel free to contact us should you feel we fall short. We DO appreciate your business. Thanks, cfila.
