This is a super unique Copper Replacement Agate in the shape of the continent of Africa. This shape is fully natural as it was found in a mine. This piece is loaded with copper. If you look closely, you can see the agate forms in the Copper.
This was found in the Wolverine #2 copper mine in upper Michigan. These form in lava rock (basalt) when gas bubbles form in the lava and are later filled with minerals. This is literally a nodule from Basalt rock.
I hand polished this on the cabbing wheel to 3000 grit. Then coated it with lacquer to protect the copper.There may be some saw lines left because this is super thin and I did not want to grind it to nothing.
These are getting more rare because the Wolverine mine tailings piles are almost all crushed into gravel for roads.
