This is a RARE and VERY SPECIAL, magnificent, one of a kind, hand sculpted anatomic heart carving constructed from fine quality mahogany obsidian. The brown portion of the specimen is the result of iron and magnesium ions within the lava. Material of this quality is very hard to find.
The talented artisans who create these phenomenal works of art , are two brothers, who to the best of my knowledge, are the only two people in the world making them ! Consequent to this,and material availability, the number of these spectacular works of art is very limited.
The obsidian is mined in Tequila,Jalisco, Northwest Mexico.The high grade quality material used for these carvings is quite rare. Only a small percentage of the mined mahogany obsidian is deemed suitable for use by the artisans . To cut and prepare each heart requires 8 steps and 12 hours of meticulous labor and preparation!
It is very difficult to photograph the specimen because of its ' very fine polish. Specifically, all of the photos have a glare. THE SPECIMEN IS MUCH NICER IN REAL LIFE !!!
