U.S. Military Pocket Compass Waltham WWI Era Antique Army Brass US Stamped
Antique U.S. military pocket compass manufactured by Waltham, dating to the WWI era.
The compass dial is clearly marked “WALTHAM,” and the exterior of the hinged case is stamped “U.S.” This early military compass features a pocket-watch style brass case with carrying ring, compass rose, cardinal and intermediate directions, and a graduated 360-degree scale.
The brass case retains substantial original age and character, including darkened patina, tarnish, oxidation, surface wear and areas of verdigris. Remnants of older coloration are also visible around the exterior U.S. marking. The interior cover and dial show additional age-related wear and discoloration. It has been left in its unpolished condition.
The compass needle moves, but directional accuracy has not been tested or guaranteed. Offered as an antique military collectible.
Measures approximately 1 3/4 inches in diameter, excluding the carrying ring.
