Thunder Horse features a dramatic running horse rendered in brilliant blue with a black mane and tail, brown lower body, yellow stars, lightning-inspired geometric designs, spirals and other colorful details. The glossy black rectangular base provides a striking contrast to the vivid artwork.
Artist Barbara Brown created Thunder Horse based on a story she told her young grandson when he was frightened by thunderstorms—the Thunder Horse descending from the sky, with the pounding of his hooves bringing thunder, lightning and life-giving rain.

This beautiful piece has had a life before arriving at Mustard Seed Mercantile and has sustained damage.Three of the legs have been repaired, and there arechips/damage to the tail and base.
The repairs and flaws are reflected in the price and are shown clearly in the photographs. Despite the damage, Thunder Horse remains an exceptionally colorful and attractive display piece and an affordable way to add this retired First Edition design to a Trail of Painted Ponies collection.
