Vintage Mabie Todd Swan SM 205B/60 lever-filling fountain pen, manufactured in England during the late 1930s or early 1940s.
It comes with a #2 Swan Mabie Todd oblique nib, rarely seen.
The model numbering breaks down into standard Mabie Todd codes:
• S.M.: Stands for Swan Minor.
• 205: Indicates a No. 2 sized 14k gold nib paired with upgraded gold-filled trim rather than nickel.
• B: indicates Black (the body color).
• 60: Stamped below the model number, this signifies the color/finish pattern configuration, in this case the black celluloid with flush-fitting ebonite filler lever.
The top cap shows the traditional engraved Swan logo iconic to Mabie Todd pens.
Pen is in excellent condition, showing only slight signs of careful use. It has been flushed, has a new ink sac, and lubrication on the lever / pressure bar glide.
The ebonite lever is a distinctive and unusual detail.
A smooth writer, the point has more rounded shoulders than some obliques, so there is no “chisel” feel, no catch when you change directions. There is a little flex when you lean into it.
This pen is a classy English design, and with the uncommon oblique nib, it is a real find.
Secure packaging and quick shipping.
