Summary
Set between A New Hope and The Empire StrikesBack, Darth Vader is operating under immense pressure. Having been strippedof his official standing in the Imperial Military by Emperor Palpatine aspunishment for the destruction of the Death Star, Vader decides to build hisown secret, independent army to track down Luke Skywalker.
His quest for off-the-books resources takes him toQuarantine World III. There, he rescues a rogue, witty archaeologist named DoctorChelli Lona Aphra, who has just stolen a highly restricted personality matrix.After Vader executes the pursuing Kallidahin curator, Utani Xane, Aphra pledgesher loyalty to the Dark Lord, eager to work for the galaxy\'s most terrifyingfigure.
Using the Force, Vader helps Aphra unlock the stolen matrixto reactivate 0-0-0 (Triple-Zero), a protocol droid specialized in etiquette,customs, and brutal torture. Together, they then awaken BT-1, a prototypehomicidal blastomech masquerading as a standard astromech droid. With his newinner circle fully assembled, Aphra pitches their next tactical target:traveling to Geonosis to scavenge a hidden phalanx of battle droids left overfrom the Clone Wars.
