Stanley No 2 Traut Patent 1874 Improved 6 Inch Try Square. The blade is 6" long and this weighs 7 1/2 oz unboxed. Justus A. Traut of New Britain, CT was granted Pat. No. 151,254 on May 26, 1874 for the design of this tool. This is a Type 1b which was made in the 1880's (up to 1887). This is in fair condition and was cleaned. There is some overall light pitting and patina on blade. The rulings are worn in spots, but are about 80%+ present. The top edge has a little roughness over the handle area, but the rest is fairly good. The machined surfaces of the handle have some light dings, but are also good. The plating on the insides of the handle have some wear and light rust staining. This ain't no picture of perfection, but seeing as how it's around 140 years old give or take, it ain't all that bad. A decent collectible old Stanley square for sure!
All items for sale unless otherwise noted are purchased and in most cases professionally restored by me. I take pride in offering quality items. Not everything is perfect, but it is as I say it is. Also, I smoke a pipe, drink whiskey, both cheap and good, and cuss more in a hour than most folks do in a month. If any or all of the above bother's ya, well then we ain't got no reason to be doing business.
