This vibrant linen-era postcard showcases a stunning aerial-perspective illustration of Union Square in San Francisco, California. The image captures the beautifully landscaped park adorned with American flags, manicured gardens, and the central monument to Admiral Dewey, surrounded by the city\'s prominent buildings including the Hotel Plaza prominently labeled on the right and several large office and commercial buildings filling the skyline. The rich colors and fine linen texture are characteristic of the Pictorial Wonderland Art Tone Series produced by the Stanley A. Piltz Company of San Francisco. The card is number 12 in the series and carries the publisher code 3B-H1034. The back provides a printed description of Union Square, noting its underground parking garage accommodating 1,700 autos — a detail that helps date the card to the early-to-mid 1940s when the garage was a modern novelty. A 1-cent George Washington green stamp is affixed in fine condition. The card was posted and addressed to Miss Mary Stadler. The handwritten message, dated January 15, is from Gina and Rheto, who write warmly about their hotel stay and a day trip to the ocean. The message is fully legible and adds wonderful social history charm to the card. Condition is Very Good. The front image is bright and clean with no writing. The back shows light age toning, a small foxing spot mid-card, and the message written in blue ink. Corners are slightly soft. A solid example of a classic San Francisco linen postcard from the Golden Age of American postcards.
