A Stanwell Royal Rouge 13 marked "Made in Denmark" is a vintage piece from before production moved to Italy in 2010.
These Danish-made pipes are highly regarded by collectors for their superior craftsmanship, precise drilling, and authentic "Danish-ness" in shape.
Identification of Danish Eras:
Registration Era (1948–1970): Features the stamp "REGD. No. 969-48" alongside "Made in Denmark". These pipes often have ebonite (hard rubber) stems and are considered the highest quality factory-produced Stanwells.
Post-Registration (1970–1990s): Lacks the registration number but still carries the "Made in Denmark" stamp and usually an ebonite stem.
Late Danish Era (1990s–2009): Stamped "Made in Denmark" but typically features acrylic stems. Pipes from roughly 1995–1998 may have a small "dot" next to the crown "S" logo on the stem.
