I am offering a 1988 hardcover copy of Remembering a Champion by Gayle Lane Fitzgerald, a biography of North Carolina businessman, agricultural leader, and state senator Ralph Henderson Scott.
This copy includes an affixed presentation label signed in ink by Ralph H. Scott. The label explains that the book came off the press on December 12, 1988, his 85th birthday, and expresses his appreciation for the recipient’s friendship and place in his life. The greeting is addressed generally to “Friend” rather than to a named individual.
Ralph Henderson Scott was a longtime North Carolina political figure from Alamance County, a businessman connected with the dairy industry, and the brother of Governor W. Kerr Scott. He served in the North Carolina Senate and became known for his advocacy on behalf of people who lacked political influence.
This is a red cloth hardcover without a dust jacket. The boards have light rubbing and minor shelf wear. The binding is solid, and the interior pages are clean. The book includes a black-and-white portrait of Ralph Henderson Scott.
