This rare early 20th century Guinness Stout match holder and striker -- known as a pyrogène --was manufactured for the French market (where they were commonly used in bars and bistros). It measures about 3.5 inches tall and 4.25 inches across. It is in good condition aside from a split in the wooden match holder, as shown in the photos.
