Rare Vtg SPGG FERRIES LTD Uniform Button - Southern Pacific Golden Gate - TM1931:
$38.95

For your consideration is this authentic Southern Pacific-Golden Gate Ferries, Ltd. (SPGG) uniform button, inventory item TM1931.

This button is a superb piece of San Francisco Bay maritime and transit history. The SPGG was a massive joint venture formed in 1929 that dominated Bay travel until the completion of the Golden Gate and San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridges.

Design & Condition:

• Obverse: Features a crisp, lined background with "S.P.G.G." at the top, "FERRIES" in the center, and "LTD." at the bottom. The lettering is embossed and shows light, attractive wear consistent with age.

• Reverse: The backmark is stamped "SUPERIOR QUALITY" flanked by two stars. This is a classic high-quality manufacturer's mark used for transit and service uniforms during the early 20th century.

• Luster: Retains much of its original golden gilt finish with some minor age-related toning/patina.

• Shank: The wire loop shank is solid and intact.

Historical Significance:

Because the SPGG Ferries only operated under this specific name for less than a decade (1929–1937), these buttons are becoming increasingly difficult for collectors to find in such well-preserved condition. It is a must-have for collectors of California transit, maritime history, or Southern Pacific Railroad memorabilia.

Please see the macro photographs for a detailed view of the hallmarks and condition.
