Vintage Maria Martinez San Ildefonso Native American Pottery Plate.This piece has a faint signature of \"Marie\" which was her style of signing in time frame of 1920 to 1925. There are reports of the rational for signing her work and during this time frame, even though her husband, Julian Martinez, helped her make the pieces, he did not sign them because making pottery was \'women\'s work\'.This piece is about 7 inches wide and 1/2 inch deep. It has been in this collection since about 1970 along with several hundred other pieces of native American artwork from New Mexico and Arizona.If you are looking for something specific, ask.
