This authentic vintage Discovery Airlines pilot wing badge represents a premier artifact from one of the most elusive chapters in Hawaiian aviation history. Based in Hawaii, this incredibly short-lived regional carrier operated for a mere ninety days in 1990 before sudden legal and structural complications forced its immediate shutdown, cementing its legendary status as a true "ghost airline" among insignia enthusiasts. The badge features the distinct, stylized gold-tone crest worn by flight crews navigating the islands aboard the airline's iconic fleet of four-engine BAe 146 whisper jets. This un-hallmarked piece matches historical registries exactly for serious collectors of rare commercial aviation memorabilia, regional cargo-passenger history, and high-premium Hawaiian carrier insignia.
They are in good condition, but it does have some surface wear and scratches. Please see photos for condition.
These wings came from NASA associate Director Daniel Nebrig’s estate and will Include a copy of the provenance card that the family and estate company made for these historic pieces. He owned the largest military medal, military pilot wings, military patches, and commercial pilot wings collection I have ever seen.
