This is an original dish or bowl from the famous St. Charles Hotel in New Orleans.
It is labeled Bauscher China of Weiden, Bavaria distributed by A. Schiller and Son of Chicago, and the bowl is dated 1928.
The piece is 5 inches X 4.25 inches and it is from the third St. Charles Hotel for which the other two burned down. Major General Butler of the Union army stayed in the second hotel during his tenure as military commander of the occupational forces in New Orleans during the Civil War.
The St. Charles Hotel has been considered one of the greatest hotels in the USA.
