Rare original WWII Imperial Japanese Army leather rifle sling for the Arisaka Type 99 and Type 38 rifles. Original Japanese leather slings are scarce, and finding one in this condition is especially difficult, as most did not survive the war or deteriorated badly in the Pacific climate.
This example is in exceptional condition. The leather is dark brown, supple, and fully intact with no tears, breaks, or dry rot. Correct construction throughout: steel roller buckle with tongue, metal button stud with keyhole closure, adjustment holes, and leather keepers with their original stitching. Buckle and stud are intact and fully functional. Light honest wear consistent with age, with a small notch at the tip of the keeper end.
