Beautiful antique Royal Bonn hand-painted porcelain vase produced by Franz Anton Mehlem of Bonn, Germany. This elegant vase features an uncommon Art Nouveau form with a rounded bulbous body that rises into a distinctive square four-sided neck accented by striking green and gilt geometric "wing" panels.
The vase is lavishly decorated with hand-painted pink and white blossoms with delicate foliage against a softly shaded background. Rich gold accents frame the decoration and highlight the unique architectural form.
The underside bears the authentic factory mark:
- Crowned FM monogram
- 1755
- Bonn Germany
- Shape number D.6106
- Decor number 274
- Painter/decorator number 3464/XII
The "1755" within the mark commemorates the historic Bonn pottery tradition and is part of the Franz Anton Mehlem trademark—not the date of manufacture.

A Scarce Art Nouveau Form
This vase represents one of the more unusual Royal Bonn designs, combining:
- square architectural neck
- rounded bulb base
- distinctive green geometric side panels
- exceptional hand-painted floral decoration
- heavy gilt accents
Its unusual shape makes it considerably less common than the standard Royal Bonn floral vases encountered today.
Provenance
Included with the vase is a copy of documentation from my Godmother showing this exact model (shape D6106) was purchased on by her for $561.95. While past sale prices do not guarantee future value, this provides useful provenance and demonstrates collector interest in this uncommon Royal Bonn design.
