Rare Antique German Bronze Aviation Cigar Cutter – Airplane with Pilot
An exceptionally unusual antique German aviation-themed cigar cutter,featuring an elaborate sculptural bronze handle depicting an early airplane with apilot seated in the cockpit.
The detailed relief includes the aircraft wings, open cockpit, pilot, landing gear,structural framework and landscape decoration. The substantial size and elaboratethree-dimensional bronze work give the piece an impressive decorative presence.
Hermann Schulder – Solingen Blade
Important attribution note: the attribution toHermann Schulder of Solingen, Germany applies to thesteel blade / cutting mechanism only.
The steel blade bears the distinctive three-S maker's trademarkassociated with Hermann Schulder of Solingen. The mark consists of three letter"S" elements arranged around a central symbol and is clearly visible in thedetailed photographs.
The opposite side of the steel mechanism is additionally markedD.R.G.M. (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster), indicating Germanregistered utility model/design protection.
The bronze airplane handle itself is not marked with a maker's name,and it is not being attributed to Hermann Schulder.Schulder is identified only as the maker associated with the marked Solingencutting Antique Cigar / Cigar Tip Cutter

Very good antique condition for its age, with natural patina,surface wear and signs of age and use consistent with an authentic antique object.The piece is offered in its present condition.
The spring mechanism works well and the cutter operates.After the blade is closed, however, the blade does not always return completelyfreely because it lightly contacts/rubs against the surrounding sides.It may require a gentle push by hand to return fully to itsresting position.
This is disclosed for complete accuracy and so that the buyer knows exactly howthe mechanism currently operates.
