Incredibly Rare Authentic pair of vintage world war 2 era US Navy ship identification brass plates. These heavy solid brass sign were used below deck on naval vessels- such as hospital ships (AH) troop transports, or large naval cruisers-to designate spaces officially certified by inspectors to handle specific patient categories. The first plate reads” certified for mental ward” (used for psychologically distressed crew) the other plate reads “cert. for isolation ward”. Condition: both brass plates are in excellent, structualy sound vintage condition. They feature an incredible, honest, unpolished aged patina with authentic oxidation and weathering on both the front and back from decades of exposure. The letters are deeply stamped and fully legible. I intentionally left the brass uncleaned to preserve the historical integrity that military and oddities collectors look for, no bends or structural damage. Perfect for collectors of unique industrial decor. These super heavy brass signs measure 12 inches by 1 inch. I have had these antique brass signs for a very long time!!
