DESCRIPTION:An exquisite specimen composed of a huge (for the species) Dioptase crystal that itself is also doubly terminated, with a couple smaller accompanying Dioptase crystals sprouting out from the middle area of the main crystal. It is uncommon to encounter doubly terminated Dioptase crystals, and very rarely do they get to this size - from anywhere!
All the terminations are sharp, and the piece as a whole is in great condition, with very clean symmetry and crystal structure!The main crystal especially is quite gemmy with even moderate backlighting, exhibiting a breathtaking vivid green hue that is so unlike anything else in the mineral world, save for perhaps a fine quality Emerald - which is exactly what Dioptase was mistaken for originally when it was discovered at the type locality of Altyn Tyube, Kazakhstan!There are a few contrasting blebs of a clay-like matrix in a couple spots, as well as a pair of interesting Shattuckite casts of what were presumably Quartz crystals on the underside of the middle of the specimen where the Dioptase originally grew atop. I mounted it here with some mineral tack, and will be packaged off the display base shown in the images. The display base will of course be included with the specimen.
The Kaokoveld Plateau in Namibia has yielded a plethora of colorful, secondary Copper minerals within the last ten years or so, especially.Dioptase is a staple from the region, and there has been a healthy amount of this mineral on the market now more than ever, which is great news for both seasoned collectors and those just starting out on their collecting journeys!However, I should point out that exceptional examples are far more scarce on the market when compared to the low to mid-grade material that doesn't necessarily possess the aesthetic composition or other such "pizzazz" that sets the better quality specimens apart from the bulk of what comes out of the ground. I like to focus on those special pieces that are more attention-grabbing than the rest, both as a collector and seller.This piece was in my personal collection for some time but I have decided to release it so another collector can enjoy it as much as I have...Don't miss your chance to add such an exceptional specimen to your collection!This choice Dioptase specimen is so much better in person. I never use filters or other enhancements, or any sort of gimmick to unethically portray a specimen as better than it is in reality.I firmly believe in "what you see is what you get".However, please note that your screen settings may differ from mine, and color may appear slightly different on your screen.I'm a collector too, and as a buyer, I definitely appreciate specimens shown accurately and described accurately as well.
They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. If that's the case, than I say a video is worth a million! Please refer to the video for the best detail... Pics are ok, but video is far better.
