Offered is an exceptionally rare original pre-World War One / World War One production United States Army M1903 Cavalry 9-Pocket Web Cartridge Belt. This belt was made by Mill Woven Cartridge Belt Co. of Worcester, Mass. It has the ink stamped bullet logo on the canvas and is nicely marked on the metal fittings as well. This cartridge belt has rimless eagle snaps and the inside of the snaps are nicely marked and patented, bearing a patent year of 1907. This is the extremely desirable cavalry variant, which features not only the 9 pockets but also the original stitched-in brass saber hook. It also has the faint remains of a stenciled unit marking on the back. To my eyes it reads “17” followed by “1367”. My belief (though I do not pretend to be an expert on Unit Markings) is that the 17 denotes the 17th Cavalry Regiment and the 1367 would be a rack number. This belt is offered as pictured in fine original condition. It shows only mild staining given its age. The snaps all function as they should and all metal is intact and secure. A VERY rare piece for your collection and one I likely will not be able to replace should I get seller’s remorse.
