Rare collection of three original antique Dennison Mfg. Co. orange-and-black Halloween paper garlands, each retaining its original leaf-shaped cardboard holder. The holders feature original Dennison advertising and a printed list of the company’s paper-garland colors and holiday designs. They are marked “Dennison’s Paper Garlands,” “Patented May 10th, 1898,” and “Dennison Mfg. Co., Framingham, Mass.” They measure approximately 4.75in by 4.75in. The 1898 marking is the patent date rather than the exact manufacturing date. Based on the early typography, construction and Dennison labeling, these garlands are believed to date from approximately the 1910s to early 1920s.CONDITION:• Two garlands appear never to have been used and remain folded and wound on their original holders.
• One garland has been opened and appears to have been previously used or displayed.
• The two apparently unused garlands have not been unfolded or extended by the seller.
• Their complete extended lengths and exact completeness cannot be verified without risking damage.
• The opened garland has not been fully extended because of its fragile condition.
• The antique paper and cardboard show age-related fading, discoloration, creasing, edge wear, small tears and separations.
• Original black cords and hanging hardware remain present as pictured.
• No repairs or restoration have been attempted. These decorations are more than a century old and extremely delicate. They are being sold exactly as found and pictured.
