Samuel Colt, GunsAmerican soldiers and frontiersman fought and played hard. Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolvers were popular firearms during the time the West was being won. The 1863 model is elaborately decorated with engravings in a floral pattern and checkered ivory grips. An eagle and shield are engraved on the side facing down. The Colt factory had always employed engravers for decorating arms of special order. The barrel of 1860 model was most likely cut in order to aid in concealing the weapon. Ivory grips are factory engraved with four aces. These Colts are just two of the more than 1,000 weapons on display at the Harold Club Gun Collection in Reno, NevadaPhoto measures 9.5 x 7.75inches.
