Estate sale find years ago (and was part of my personal White House collection) here in Washington, D.C. Original and 100% authentic Whtie House Gavel created at the White House in 1950, as part of the White House Renovation Project authorized by President Harry Truman, from the original White House wood used in the build out of the White House in 1817 post War of 1812.
Gavel measures about 10 1/2" long and has the required White House issued brass plaque attached attesting to the authenticity of the item. An amazing and historical White House gift item actually made at the White House from the original Wood used to construct the The White House and authorized by President Truman himself.
Interesting historical note, prior to assuming the Presidency in 1945, Harry Truman was a former elected Judge in Jackson County, Missouri. It is thought that many of these Presidential authoriized White House Material Gavels were made and sent to high ranking Federal Judges appointed possibly by Truman himself.
