The Szabla wz. 1976 (Model 1976 Saber) was officially adopted by the People’s Republic of Poland (PRL) as a ceremonial military saber, not intended for combat use. It marked the last official military saber model of the Polish Army, serving primarily as a parade and dress sword for officers and honor guards.
Introduced during a period of modernization and national symbolism, the saber paid homage to Poland’s centuries-old saber tradition, especially as the military began participating more actively in state ceremonies, diplomatic honors, and military parades.
