Dark, weighty and unmistakably masculine, the Hudson is Peterson\'s quarter-bent bulldog at its most commanding. This one wears a deep, dark stain over grain that earns the shape. The figure runs through the bowl and shank with real depth, and it catches the light beautifully. I photographed it in its box, lit low, because that\'s how this pipe should be seen first.
The Hudson (XL21) was originally released in the Return of Sherlock Holmes series, a squat, muscular take on the bulldog designed by German pipemaker Jan Harry Seiffert. This example is a 2017 Peterson, dated by the G date letter on its Dublin-hallmarked sterling silver band, and it arrives with its Peterson presentation box and pouch.
Lightly smoked. The chamber is clean, with Peterson\'s factory bowl coating largely intact and no cake buildup, and the walls are sound. The bowl and finish present beautifully in the photos. Please review the full photo set, including the hallmark close-ups. The sterling band shows a slight bend at the stem end, visible in the pictures.
