Stunning Pair of Vintage VTB Italian Ceramic Jardinieres / Cachepots
An extraordinary matching pair of highly decorative VTB Italy ceramic jardinieres/cachepots, lavishly finished in emerald green, creamy ivory and brilliant gold gilt.
These pieces are exceptionally ornate. Each features dramatic raised dimensional latticework, individually applied bead-like accents highlighted in gold, richly decorated green panels with scrolling gilt foliage, a sculptural scalloped rim edged in gold, and an elegant pedestal base with additional gilded bands.
The elaborate ornamentation gives them a wonderful Italian Baroque / Rococo Revival aesthetic, while the jewel-like green-and-gold palette also works beautifully with Hollywood Regency, Italianate, Neoclassical, Grand Tour, maximalist and Old World European interiors.
The undersides are hand-marked:
Another VTB Italian ceramic piece has surfaced bearing a very similar handwritten VTB / numerical code / Italy marking and has been described as early-to-mid 20th century. However, the precise manufacturer and production date of this pair have not been independently established, so they are being offered simply as vintage VTB Italy.
Approximate size:
6” tall × 5” across the opening
These are substantial enough to make a statement while remaining a versatile tabletop size. Beautiful displayed as a matched pair on a mantel, console, library shelf or dining room sideboard, either empty as decorative objects or holding orchids, ferns or other small plants.
Condition: Vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with decorative use. The interiors show marks, discoloration and surface wear, as photographed. There may be minor irregularities, variations to the applied decoration and wear to the gilding associated with age and the hand-decorated nature of the pieces. Please examine all photographs closely, including interior, underside and measurement photographs, as they form an important part of the condition description.
A wonderfully unusual pair for collectors of Italian ceramics, gilt pottery, Baroque Revival décor and Hollywood Regency interiors. The elaborate raised decoration and matching pair make these especially striking display pieces.
