This is a beautifulEarly 19th Century Pair of Kashmiri Wooden Hand-Painted Barley Twist Candlesticks. A charming and colorful addition to any traditional, eclectic, or bohemian décor. The lamps are built on a candlestick form base, hand-painted with intricate floral motifs — roses and blossoms in warm tones of pink, orange, yellow, and green — over a dark lacquered ground. The stem features an elegant barley-twist/spiral cage design below the candle cup, adding sculptural interest, and both the base and candle cup are richly decorated with the same floral pattern, showing the fine detailed brushwork typical of Kashmiri papier-mâché artistry. Fitted with cream-colored candle-cover sleeves and pull-chain sockets for easy on/off use, while being topped with matching black pleated/scalloped lamp shades with gold foil interiors, which cast a warm glow and provide a striking contrast to the ornate bases.
