An exquisite pair of antique German porcelain cabinet plates hand-painted at the prestigious studio of Franz Xaver Thallmaier in Munich, Germany, circa 1890-1910. Each 9 1/2-inch plate features a breathtaking, intricately detailed central vignette depicting playful cherubs (putti) among the clouds. The medallions are framed by a rich cobalt blue border intricately accented with a starburst pattern of raised gold-gilt stars. As is customary with high-end antique porcelain pairs, one plate features the authentic green stamped oval studio backstamp: "Frz. Xav. Thallmaier, Kgl. Hof-Porzellanmalerei & Kunsthandlung, München." Both plates are identical in porcelain blank material, border patterning, and artistic hand, originating from the same factory set. These are highly investment-grade, museum-quality examples of European porcelain artistry. Measures 9.5 inches in diameter. Free shipping included.
