Up for sale/sale is a highly desirable, authentic World War II German M31 Aluminum Mess Kit (Kochgeschirr 31). This iconic piece of Wehrmacht field gear is in honest, field-used combat condition, showing incredible character and direct evidence of frontline history.
Key Features & Details:
- Manufacturer Code & Date: Clear, legible stamp on the upper handle hinge reads• VAL 39", indicating production in 1939 right at the outbreak of WWII. The "VAL" code is a scarcer, sought-after wartime manufacturer mark.
- • Soldier ID / Roster Markings: The back of the main pot body features a crudely field-scratched number "4". This is a classic soldier's• personalization/roster number used during the war to identify personal gear during company food rations.
- • Material & Construction: Early-to-pre-war aluminum construction with its original steel wire carry handle intact. The lid handle moves freely and folds flat properly over the unit.Condition: Excellent combat-worn condition. It retains a mix of its original olive-drab/feldgrau paint finish alongside natural aluminum exposure from field wear and cooking use. The aluminum interior is clean with typical minor oxidation and wear consistent with its age. No major cracks or structural damage—this is an incredibly sturdy piece of history.
Please review all high-resolution photos carefully to judge the exact condition and markings for yourself. This would make a spectacular addition to any WWII German field gear, Wehrmacht display, or combat mannequin setup!
