In the spring of 1918, while the Rainbow Division wasin the trenches in Lorraine, New Yorkers were told: buy Third Liberty Loanbonds and win the right to fly the Treasury's red-white-and-blue Honor Flag forthe boys overseas.

The Imperial War Museum in London holds this poster;no sale record for the title appears anywhere - it is genuinely uncommon.
The 42nd Rainbow Division -National Guard units from 26 states, with New York's own Fighting 69th at itsheart, and a young Douglas MacArthur as chief of staff - remains one of themost collected American divisions of the First World War.
