An extraordinary, high-angle original glass plate negative capturing early 20th-century Boston street life and transit. Taken from an elevated vantage point overlooking Boylston Street, the negative reveals a packed lane of 1920s automobiles, commercial flatbed/delivery trucks, and a Boston Elevated Railway center-entrance streetcar rolling along the surface tracks.
Adjacent to the roadway lies the snow-dusted or early spring landscape of the Boston Common / Public Garden, showing the lagoon/pond, winding pedestrian paths, and the tall Soldiers and Sailors Monument / flagstaff. In the background skyline, prominent Boston landmarks are visible, including the Massachusetts State House dome, the Custom House Tower, and distinctive downtown church spires.

Subject Matter: Surface trolley transit (BERy), commercial vintage vehicles, Model Ts/early coupes, pedestrians, and downtown Boston urban topography.
Sleeve Annotation: Includes the original vintage brown job sleeve with period handwriting: "When street cars ran on Boylston St.", along with "Very Good" and a later pencil notation "Back Bay".
Emulsion & Glass Quality: Sharp detail across the entire plate—vehicle grilles, streetcar route signs, and architectural lines are all clearly rendered under positive inversion. No cracks, major lifting, or glass damage.
