Verified Local Hallmark: The reverse side features the crisp, period-accurate "IRWIN-HODSON PORTLAND" maker's mark stamp. This specific text configuration dates the badge definitively to the 1920s or 1930s, prior to the firm adding "Co." to their stampings
Iconic "Pie-Plate" Design: A classic five-pointed star integrated into a solid outer rim circular banner, with stamped traditional ball anchors at the star tips.
Original Duty Number: Stamped with service number 741 at the center.
Dimensions: Measures 2.5 inches in diameter (standard duty chest size for the era).
Uncleaned Original Condition:
The badge is in excellent vintage condition with an intact, straight vertical pin assembly on the reverse. It features an untouched, authentic natural patina with minor verdigris and oxidation—it has deliberately NOT been polished to preserve its historical value and character.
