Original vintage press photo of the Northrop YB-49 Flying Wing — printed on period Kodak photo paper, with a handwritten archival negative number on the back. This is an authentic period print, not one of the modern glossy reprints commonly found online.
Dramatic overhead banking shot showing the aircraft's tailless flying-wing design, "USAF" lettering and star-and-bar insignia on the underside, and twin jet engine pods.
The YB-49 was the direct ancestor of the Northrop B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, first flown in 1947. Only two were ever built, both converted from earlier YB-35 airframes — one was destroyed in a fatal 1948 crash, the program was cancelled, and every remaining airframe was scrapped by 1953. No YB-49 survives today in any form — period photography like this is among the only physical evidence of the aircraft that exists.
Condition shows light wear consistent with age — see photos.
